CHANGE OF HOURS AT SOLID WASTE SITE

IMPORTANT NOTICE – TOWN OF WINTER AND TOWN OF OJIBWA RESIDENTS

The Southern Sawyer County Solid Waste Recycling Center located at N4898 Cty Rd W, Winter, WI that services the residents of the Town of Ojibwa and Town of Winter will no longer offer site hours on Mondays.  The site will remain open 2 days per week year around:  Wednesdays 8 am to Noon and Saturdays 8 am to 2 pm.   PLEASE NOTE – THERE ARE NO MONDAY SERVICES.  

We want to remind folks that our site is separate from the Village of Winter.  If you are in doubt of which facility you should use, please contact your muncipal office for more information.  Town of Winter office phone is 715-266-3131 and the Villlage of Winter office phone is 715-266-4721.

Our site is designed for residents to dispose of residential/household waste.  We encourage recycling but offer services for disposal of mixed garbage as well.  Bags are required for mixed non recycling garbage.  Garbage bags are available for purchase at our site or at the Winter Coop Store.  If purchasing from the Winter Coop, be sure to purchase the correct bags, SSCSW in black lettters is printed on our bags.  We offer two sizes of bags a Large bag is 32 gallon $3.50 and Small bag is 13 gallon $2.00.  If purchasing bags at our site, please bring the correct amount of money for your purchase to eliminate time making change.  Our goal is to operate efficently and keep the traffic at the site moving along.  BE RESPECTFUL OF EVERYONE AND PLEASE REFRAIN FROM ALL LOITERING AT THE SITE.

Garbage has become an expensive item, the site incurs costs for transfer and disposal of everything we take in as well as normal operations costs.   At this time our facility operates as a self-supporting unit,  the muncipalities do not fund the operation.  We all need to do our part which helps to keep costs to our patrons at a minimum.  PLEASE CRUSH YOUR CARDBOARD BOXES FLAT PRIOR TO ARRIVING AS THIS SAVES TIME FOR EVERYONE.  

JUNE IS CLEANUP MONTH, we bring in a large 40 yard dumpster to dispose of larger items such as mattresses, furniture etc.  There are fees associated with these items, the site attendants can assist you with costs.  

We do not accept construction materials, latex paints, tires, shingles, propane cylinders or hazardous waste materials.    Other items not listed will be determined at the discrection of the site attendants.

SITE MAY BE CLOSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS, WE WILL MAKE EVERY TO NOTIFY PEOPLE THROUGH FACEBOOK, WHAT’S UP AROUND WINTER ETC.
